The growing popularity of American football - or 'football' as they call it in the USA - in the UK and indeed the rest of Europe means that there's a fair-sized market for NFL sims over here, and Madden NFL 08 is one of the best around. PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers have already seen Madden NFL 08 released on their platform of choice this year, and now it's the turn of PC gamers. Madden NFL 08 review for the PC
The NFL is currently spending a lot of it's resources on pushing it's brand of ‘football' in the UK. TV coverage has been cranked up to eleven, and October sees the New York Giants take on the Miami Dolphins in our very own Wembley stadium in the NFL's first ever overseas season game. It's an exciting time for European NFL fans, just so long as their Madden fix isn't restricted solely to PC gaming. While this year's PS3 and 360 incarnations have taken a few steps forward, and upped the game somewhat over previous titles, PC owners are left with little more than a half-arsed PS2 port with extremely minor improvements over last year's offering, at best. Lucky PC owners are rewarded with the likes of Skill Drills mode, which sees you working through a series of mini games against gigantic dummies (don't ask), under the promise that it'll improve your running/passing/ playcalling skills. Maybe so, but surely a few extra mini games isn't all that 08 has to offer?
