Empire Total War preview for the PC

This month we bring you the latest news of Empire: Total War for the PC - it's not due out for a while yet(release date still to be confirmed, but it will be into 2008) but we've had a first look at the latest real-time strategy game from the Total War series. This time it centres on the eighteenth century and features 3D naval battles. What do we know?
The game will still be built around the central pillars of epic real-time strategy battling and turn-based map conquest, but will include 3D naval warfare for the first time. Set in a period of rapid technological advancement – and that means a vast armoury of weapons – Empire: Total War promises varied campaigns. America's battle for independence (American Conquest look out), the industrial revolution that mechanised warfare in Europe and rampant globalisation form the backdrop for this fifth full Total War monster.
