Must play ‘indie’ games awarded!
Last night was the 14th annual Independent Games Festival Awards and arguably the competition has never been fiercer with fantastic games like Dear Esther, To The Moon and Frozen Synapse all nominated.
However rather than write about who we thought should have bagged an award, instead we’ll just list the winners – it’s much less controversial. Here are the victors:
Best Student Game:
WAY – Carnegie Mellon University

The IGF is certainly one of the more interesting industry award shows around.
Technical Excellence:
Antichamber – Demruth
Excellence In Design:
Spelunky – Mossmouth
Best Mobile Game:
Beat Sneak Bandit – Simogo
Excellence In Visual Art:
Dear Esther – thechineseroom
Excellence In Audio:
Botanicula – Amanita Design
Nuovo Award:
Storyteller – Daniel Benmergui
Seumas McNally Grand Prize:
Fez – Polytron
There are some brilliant titles in there, and we’re especially pleased that the UK effort, Dear Esther, has bagged an award.
