Must play ‘indie’ games awarded!

Last night was the 14th annual Independent Games Festival Awards and arguably the competition has never been fiercer with fantastic games like , To The Moon and Frozen Synapse all nominated.

However rather than write about who we thought should have bagged an award, instead we’ll just list the winners – it’s much less controversial. Here are the victors:


Best Student Game:

WAY – Carnegie Mellon University

The is certainly one of the more interesting industry award shows around.

Technical Excellence:

Antichamber – Demruth


Excellence In Design:

Spelunky – Mossmouth


Best Mobile Game:

Beat Sneak Bandit – Simogo


Excellence In Visual Art:

Dear Esther – thechineseroom


Excellence In Audio:

Botanicula – Amanita Design


Nuovo Award:

Storyteller – Daniel Benmergui


Seumas McNally Grand Prize:

Fez – Polytron


There are some brilliant titles in there, and we’re especially pleased that the UK effort, Dear Esther, has bagged an award.
