From the makers of Magicka comes something similarly tongue-in-cheek.
Arrowhead Game Studios, perhaps better known as the developer behind the superbly funny Diablo-a-like Magicka, has opened the beta registration process for their next big downloadable hit The Showdown Effect.
The side-scrolling competitive multiplayer game sees heroes and villains from various eras facing off in grand battles with a variety of different melee and projectile weaponry. Since the game’s initial announcement early in the year, any updates on the The Showdown Effect have been hard to come by, but if we’re honest this sublimely tongue-in-cheek trailer somewhat makes up for the wait.
You can sign up to play The Showdown Effect before anyone else by visiting the official website, all those that refer at least 5 players are being granted automatic access whenever Arrowhead feel like flicking on the go switch.
And to further tempt players into the violent fold, Arrowhead Game Studios will be hosting a gameplay session on Twitch tonight from 7 p.m. GMT / 11 a.m. PST so you can have a look to see exactly how The Showdown Effect is coming along. You’ll even be able to ask the devs behind the game questions as well. To watch the game in action be sure to visit Paradox Interactive’s Twitch channel when the aforementioned time comes.
The Showdown Effect will be released at some point in March, exclusively for PC.
