Prey 2 Delayed Beyond 2012

Delayed due to “quality control” issues.

Good news sci-fi fans, Bethesda has today made a statement confirming that has not been cancelled, as previously rumoured.

Instead the release of Human Head’s multi-dimensional shooter has been delayed beyond 2012, as the sequel doesn’t currently meet the “quality standards” set by publisher Bethesda.

Rumours first circulated that Prey 2 was cancelled earlier this month and despite constant pestering from fans, Bethesda were quiet on its state of development – until now.

“Development of Prey 2 has not been cancelled but the game will not be released in 2012 as planned. The delay is due to the fact that game development has not progressed satisfactorily this past year, and the game does not currently meet our quality standards,” sated the press release.

“Prey 2 has shown great promise and we regret disappointing our fans. We have made a substantial investment in game development to deliver the experience fans want. We are determined only to release the AAA game that fans rightfully expect, and are unwilling to compromise our quality standards to meet a release schedule.”

Over the past twelve months we’ve only seen one forty-five minute demo of Prey 2 and we came away largely impressed with what we saw, mostly thanks to its unique sci-fi bounty hunter setting.

We have our fingers crossed that both Bethesda and Human Head can turn development around on what is an ambitious and promising endeavour.
