Ubisoft and Nadeo release the beloved game-mode for free via ManiaPlanet.

Platform Mode Heads to TrackMania 2 Canyon

Platform mode; it's as tough as it looks!

was a fitting evolution of the fast-paced time-trial franchise, but for us the sequel was missing one game-mode; Platform.

We weren’t alone in our general wonderings about what happened to arguable the racing game’s most challenging and popular discipline, but today Nadeo and Ubisoft have finally addressed those complaints by adding Platform to TrackMania 2 Canyon with an expansion which is free to download via Nadeo’s unified online framwork, ManiaPlanet.

The new expansion is available right now and includes twenty-three new tracks, dedicated online rankings, the titular game mode for both online and offline play as well as a special ‘The King of the Ultimate Nightmare Challenge’. This contest, which sounds like a the title of a reject Fantastic Four comic, involves completing the entire singleplayer campaign of the new Platform expansion without using any respawns, with the first person able to do so set to be immortalised in a future trailer for TrackMania 2.

Can you do it? Probably not, we’ve tried it’s insanely difficult!

Speaking of trailers though, here’s a glimpse of what Platform mode is all about. Enjoy the soundtrack, it’s really good – even by Nadeo standards…
