From the makers of Assassin’s Creed, Prince of Persia and Uncharted comes something completely different.
Somehow in all yesterday’s Halloween excitement we overlooked the release of a new trailer for the first person horror experience, Outlast.
Developed by Red Barrel, which consists of staffers who’ve worked on Assassin’s Creed, Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell and Uncharted, it would be fair to say there’s a fair bit of anticipation surrounding this release, and it’s looking rather good.
The setting features the player exploring a defunct mental asylum in Colorado which has been run by Nazi scientists before it was shutdown. Certainly not something a sensible individual would do but hey, this is a video game.
The footage reminds us a lot of Monolith’s Condemned with the enemies easily described as demented humans and the reliance on technology in order to get round the environment. Red Barrel has already said that they aren’t creating a combat experience though, this is more of a run and hide kind of game.
Expect Outlast to be released next year on PC and Mac.
