No Half Life 3 at E3

Published on May 3rd, 2012

Valve confirm that they have no new games to announce at the annual industry event.

An email exchange between Joystiq and Valve’s Doug Lombardi has confirmed that the developer behind Half Life has no plans to announce a sequel at E3. In fact they have no plans to announce anything new at all.

The American website got in contact with Mr Lombardi after ValveTime.net reported on an email exchange between a fan and Valve’s head-honcho Gabe Newell.

“We are not announcing anything at E3. Really.” states the email which has yet to be confirmed by Valve, but Gabe’s admirable habit of responding to fan questions is well known.

“We are not announcing Half-Life 3 or Portal 3 or Left 4 Dead 3. We are going to be showing stuff everyone already knows about (CS:Go [Counterstrike: Global Offensive], Dota 2, 10′ UI [Steam 'Big Picture Mode']).”

At the moment is an itch that PC gamers can’t quite scratch; we all know it exists there’s just nothing we can do to address the situation.

Nevertheless Valve still has a lot to promote this year and who knows maybe they’re just playfully pulling the wool over our eyes.

One can only hope…
