We try to stay away from openly recommending game deals, but occasionally there comes a time when everyone should be aware of some of the crazy offers going on, especially in the realm of downloadable distribution.

Steam has begun their traditionally huge holiday sale early and once again there are some fantastic games to be snapped up:

Fallen Earth: Was £29.94 - Now £14.97

Champions Online: Was £24.99 - Now £12.97

Batman Arkham Asylum: Was £29.99 - Now £14.99

Osmos: Was £6.99 - Now £2.00

Far Cry 2: Fortune's Edition: Was £19.99 - Now £9.99

Dragon Age: Origins: Was £29.99 - Now £22.49

GRID: Was £14.99 - Now £3.74

All of the above deals are will expire at the end of today and tomorrow a new set of games will be on offer at bargain prices. It's no surprise to find titles like Far Cry 2 and Grid in there, but surely Arkham Asylum and Dragon Age: Origins can hold their own at full price?

If you've never tried the therapeutic Osmos, now is the perfect time. It's still one of the most relaxing games to be played on a PC and really what do you have to lose when it's only £2.

Direct2Drive and GamersGate are sure to follow suit with their own deals, but until then keep checking the Steam store daily for new titles. We'll let you know when there are some more unmissable bargains afoot.
