Double Fine founder and legendary video game developer Tim Schafer has told GamerZines that he would "love to do another" Psychonauts and that he has a "lot of ideas" for a follow-up, but has questioned whether people would really want a sequel over "something new".
Talking to GamerZines last week, Schafer said:
"Oh, I'd love to do another Psychonauts. I've got a lot of ideas for one, but we also just want to do new stuff, too.
"I would love to revisit all of my IPs because I had a good time working on them, but if I did that I wouldn't be making a new game. You know, if I made Full Throttle 2 I would never have made Grim Fandango. People might have asked for Full Throttle 2, but did they really want that or did they want Grim Fandango? I think when people ask for sequels they want something new, really."

But despite launching to huge critical acclaim, its performance at retail was underwhelming, reportedly shipping fewer than 100,000 copies within its first year.
Besides Psychonauts, Schafer has previously worked on many other classic titles, including the original Monkey Island series, Day of the Tentacle and Grim Fandango. The latter shared a similar fate to that of Psychonauts, selling far fewer copies than expected.
Schafer's latest game Brutal Legend hits stores in two weeks time, and follows the story of roadie Eddie Riggs who's transported to a heavy metal-inspired fantasy world. Would everybody buy this one, please?
