It's no secret that we are looking forward to Alien versus Predator a lot, especially having played the original game for more hours than we care to mention. So we were very pleased to spot an interview on Kotaku featuring the project's lead Tim Jones discussing how and why Alien and Predator make such compelling characters in video games:

"Aliens make great enemies in Alien games and you can have hundreds of them. However, you can't treat the Predator as the standard 'grunt' enemy: He has to be a 'boss' character, and that kind of limits how much you can use him." Does that mean that we won't get to see as much of Mr Predator in the Marine and Alien campaigns? Let's hope not.

And there aren't many games where you get to play a bad-guy like that. I guess he's had a hard time finding his niche until now!"

Now that's a fair point, the Predator isn't exactly friendly neighbour material. Unfortunately Tim didn't go into any detail regarding the Marines but there are plenty of previews floating around the internet regarding the weakest of the three included species.

It's great to see Rebellion returning to the Alien versus Predator series after the original was such a critical and commercial success. We can't wait to see what they bring to the table when their next iteration is released next year, over a decade after the original.
