Crystal Dynamics have announced that they'll be releasing their latest Tomb Raider reboot, titled Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light this summer on XBLA, PSN and PC.

The fun is usually doubled with a second player.Controversially dropping the Tomb Raider name, this smaller but no less significant adventure will retail for around $15, or 1200 Microsoft Points.

Expect the traditional puzzles which the series is known for. This series has experienced a few transformations over the years including new gameplay, art styles and lead actresses, but Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is the biggest departure yet with two player co-op and a shorter playtime of around six hours.

Where would Lara be without wall running?A handful of screenshots have also been released to whet gamers' appetites and it appears that Guardian of Light will return the series back to its roots, with Lara Croft sporting her original light blue top and tan shorts combination from the Playstation One era.
Whether this more streamlined experience will pay off for the creators remains to be seen, but it's encouraging to see a developer not afraid to tamper with convention.
