With Just Cause 2 around the corner and the demo released yesterday, many gamers are very excited about the tropical sandbox title and if recent comments from Avalanche Studios and Square Enix are anything to go by then a trilogy may be around the corner.

"Let's say I was going to do a brainstorming list of Just Cause 3 features, I could really quickly do it because it's easy to see how we can continue down that road, keeping it unique," explained the sequel's lead designer, Peter Johansson to VideoGamer.com. "That's something I really like about Just Cause as a franchise. So as a game designer I would be really happy to do it."

When asked if Just Cause 2 had the longevity of Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy by MCV, Square Enix's UK Marketing Director Jon Brook explained that he couldn't see why not and "having regularly tested the game throughout it's development, we know we have something special."

Obviously any further sequel is dependent on sales but with a very positive reaction to the demo, the success of Just Cause 2 and the eventual appearance of a third chapter is looking increasingly likely.
