Crytek have been teasing their super soldier sequel for quite a while now, but these first shots from their new engine show that it's just as cutting edge as the original.

Crysis 2
New York has been seen in games before but not like this.
EA released the assets yesterday, giving gamers a glimpse of what will await them when Crysis 2 is released at the end of the year for 360, PC and PS3.

New setting, new suit, same great combat.
In both shots the keen eyed among you will spot the new technologically enhanced suit which was first teased last year. The new apparatus doesn't just protect soldiers but also taps into their brain waves immunizing them against fear and other psychological weakness.

The new setting of New York will also change combat significantly, moving the action from the jungles of Korea to the West's most iconic urban centre. Battling fellow soldiers and an alien menace flanked by giant skyscrapers is sure to cause plenty of collateral damage.

Interestingly there doesn't seem to be any civilians in either of these shots suggesting that the densely populated area has been evacuated or the populace has fled.

Whatever the case these shots do provoke more questions than they answer, but hopefully we'll hear more at GDC next week.
