As previously rumoured Valve will show DoTA 2 for the first time publicly at this momth’s gamescom via a special tournament, where the winning team can bag $1 million.
“The International is the first public Dota 2 event and will give the tens of millions of gamers playing Dota around the world their first look at the new game,” revealed president and founder of Valve, Gabe Newell.
“I have had the good fortune to watch the competitors as they prepare for the tournament, and the level of play is extraordinary.”
The sixteen best DotA teams in the world will be competing for the prize over the course of Cologne’s five day show and the various different match-ups will be broadcast live free of charge.
Where exactly fans can watch the action has yet to be revealed.
In addition Valve also confirmed that DotA 2 will also be released on PC and Mac in 2011.
