Skyrim fans are in for a treat today as not only has Bethesda finally launched the high-resolution texture pack for their critically acclaimed fantasy life sim, but also Valve has put together their own mod which inserts Portal 2′s Space Core into The Elder Scrolls V’s vast open-world.
The content dubbed ‘Fall of the Space Core, Vol 1.’ has been produced to promote Steam Workshop functionality being added to the RPG. From today players can download and rate over 250 mods for free inside the Steam client.
We went ‘cold turkey’ on Skyrim a couple of weeks back, simply so we could get some work done, but we fear this will lead us slipping back in old habits.
As expected the High Resolution Texture Pack is a bulky download and requires a considerably more powerful rig than what Skyrim would usually require, but it offers a substantial visual upgrade.
You”ll need the following specifications to get the most out of this free content:-
- Processor:Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU
- Memory:4GB System RAM
- Video Card:DirectX 9.0c compatible NVIDIA or AMD ATI video card with 1GB of RAM (Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 or higher; ATI Radeon 4890 or higher)
Bethesda has been tinkering with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim since launch with middling success, but this latest update should be received positively by the game’s multi-million strong community.
