PC gamers won’t be invited to join the Call of Duty Elite beta until autumn, Activision’s Social Media Manager Dan Amrich has confirmed, despite the beta program having gone live for selected Xbox 360 gamers late last week.
The public beta, which launched last Thursday, currently offers selected Xbox 360 gamers the chance to test out Call of Duty’s new social platform, with the PS3 beta due to roll out later this summer.
But according to Amrich, “PC players will have to wait until the fall to try it out”.
The news, of course, won’t instil much confidence into the PC community.
Many PC gamers have already accused big name publishers like Activision of ignoring the PC market, instead choosing to focus their efforts on consoles.
Call of Duty made its debut exclusively on PC back in 2003. The first console Call of Duty game, Call of Duty: Finest Hour launched a year later.
If you’ve signed up for the Xbox 360 beta and have yet to receive your invite, there’s no need to worry quite yet. Further invites into the Xbox 360 beta “will be sent out on a daily basis”, according to Activision – although the chances of getting in may be slimmer than you thought.
2.8m gamers have already signed up to trial the new service.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 launches on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on November 8th.
