Patrician IV and Dungeons given to disappointed buyers for free.
The response to Legends of Pegasus wasn’t quite what Kalypso Media had hoped for with gamers lambasting the story-based 4X strategy game for its multiple bugs and general instability which has culminated in a metacritic rating of just 33 out of 100.
Usually publishers and developers brush these kinds of disappointments aside and let gamers stew in their sad, remorseful buyer’s guilt, but not Kalypso Media. In a twist, the publisher is offering all those that purchased Legends of Pegasus whether online or offline two free games; Patrician IV and Dungeons.
With a little patience and two free games, waiting for Legends of Pegasus to improve should be a bit easier to bear.
“We have now finalized the details and are starting to provide a free loyalty bonus package for customers affected by technical issues with Legends of Pegasus,” reads a post written by Kalypso Media staffer Timo on the publisher’s official forums.
“We sincerely apologize for the problems and disappointment experienced during the launch of this title and to show our commitment to both the game and our community we will be providing free Steam keys for our titles “Patrician IV” and “Dungeons”.”
“In order to obtain this bonus, please send an email to support@kalypsomedia.com, attaching the email purchase confirmation from Steam or any kind of receipt/proof of purchase (or equivalent) for the game and using the subject “Legends of Pegasus Loyalty Bonus”. We promise to make the process as smooth as possible for you.”
It’s worth noting that Novacore Studios are still hard at work doing all they can to make sure the reality of Legends of Pegasus matches their vision, with several patches going live since the game launched and more are on the way.
Game development is a challenging process and sometimes, no matter anyone’s intentions, things go wrong. That isn’t to say Kalypso Media should be given a free pass, but those two free games should go some way to making understandably disappointed fans feel at least slightly better about their purchase.
That is unless they already own both Patrician IV and Dungeons, but even if that is the case you could always pass them onto a friend. Just don’t tell Kalypso we told you that…
