Valve has announced a special birthday celebration for Team Fortress.
The mod which began life with Quake before being adopted by the Half Life community celebrated its fifteenth anniversary yesterday, and to celebrate if you play Team Fortress 2 today you’ll receive a free party hat and a noisemaker – all in-game of course.
In addition, Birthday mode has also been switched on, so if you venture onto servers you’ll discover a special Team Fortress Birthday Beach Ball and find that players explode in shower of balloons and confetti when gibbed.
Fifteen years of popularity would be a substantial achievement for any game let alone one which started life as a mod. Here’s to another great decade and a half of class-based entertainment.
