DICE’s GM Karl Magnus Troedsson has praised the potential of his developer’s latest engine, Frostbite 2, declaring it a "game-changer for shooter fans".
"We are gearing up for a fight and we’re here to win," explained Karl Magnus Troedsson, in an interview with CVG.
"Where other shooters are treading water Battlefield 3 innovates. Frostbite 2 is a game-changer for shooter fans. We call it a next-generation engine for current-generation platforms."
These comments emerged the same day that EA released gameplay footage of the long overdue sequel. The trailer linked on the right confirms a modern war setting, the ability for players to go prone and the inclusion of aircraft in online play.
Unfortunately the footage is less than a minute long, but viewers will still gain an impression of good the Frostbite 2 engine looks in action.
Battlefield 3 will be released this autumn on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
