Ahead of the launch of EA’s Darkspore in the first quarter next year, players are invited to sign up for the beta testing phase which kicks off shortly.
Darkspore is being developed by Maxis, the brains behind Spore, and though it will feature Spore elements, such as heavy customisation and an advance creature editor, it is being billed as a co-op focused sci-fi action RPG.
The graphics and gameplay of Darkspore appear similar to that of what we’ve seen in other upcoming action RPG games such as "Diablo 3". The game will be based heavily on "looting", meaning that players will have to take up many challenges to aquire new items and heroes. Another prime factor is replayability, as the game features a procedural AI director and a loot-randomisation system, encouraging players to revisit levels to earn better loot.
Currently slated for a release in March of April 2011, Darkspore will be available for PC and Mac.
