Crytek’s disappointing follow-up to Crysis was the most pirated game of last year, according to recently released data.
TorrentFreak, a website which focuses purely on reporting the latest news involving the popular file-sharing technology, put together a list which collated data from various torrent search engines to determine which were the most pirated games of the past twelve months, and Crysis 2 came on top with the PC version alone clocking up over 3,920,000 downloads since launch.
Other notable titles on the that list included Battlefield 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Portal 2; all of whom racked up over 3 million downloads each.
Other gaming platforms were also mentioned, but once again the PC was the most prolific when it came to piracy, with the most popular titles on Wii and Xbox 360 only tallying up 1,280,000 and 890,000 respectively.
Incidentally games for Sony’s PlayStation 3 were left off the list as their numbers are considered insignificant when compared with the aforementioned platforms.
