Capcom’s official blog has announced that gamers can purchase Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record from EA’s digital distribution service Origin for $39.99 each.
Offering titles from other publishers is part of Electronic Arts’ long-term plan to produce a viable rival to other services in the digital space like Steam, Direct2Drive and Good Old Games.
THQ were the last publisher other than EA to sell their wares via Origin and now Capcom has joined the fold, we suspect other similar sized publishers will follow.
Despite significant controversies in the past it seems Origin is here to stay and if EA can continue to add to the substantial back catalogue, currently numbered at over 100 titles, we see no reason why it won’t stick around for the foreseeable future.
