Early this morning it has emerged that the developer behind Pure and Split/Second has been closed.
Eurogamer was the first to report news of Black Rock Studio’s demise which leaves forty remaining staff out of the job, due to Disney refocusing as a free-to-play digital publisher.
Undoubtedly this is a massive shame not only for the UK development scene but racing games as a whole, as Black Rock Studios produced brilliant titles which stood out in the often predictable driving genre.
However it isn’t all doom and gloom for the Brighton development scene as a new studio has risen from the ashes, Roundcube Entertainment, who already boasts several formerly redundant staffers.
Good luck to all those affected.
