Remedy’s executive vice president has revealed that the PC version of Alan Wake has already sold enough units to turn a profit, recouping both development and advertising costs just two days after launch.
“We are very happy with the sales and hitting 1 on Steam at launch was nothing short of amazing. We recouped our development and marketing expenses during the first 48 hours. And yes, we’re certainly very excited about PC,” stated Aki Jrvilehto via the official Remedy forums.
Alan Wake on PC has yet to hit physical retailers, but its success in the digital realm should bode well for an appearance of the follow-up Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, which is currently only available on Xbox 360.
Frankly we’ve no idea why Remedy’s survival horror franchise has taken over two years to appear on PC, but its on-going success bodes well for more self-published ports to make their way onto the open platform.
