Internet explodes with wanton speculation and inevitably dissapointment.
Update: Surprise, surprise the inclusion of Half-Life 3 on a Gamescom product list was apparently a “mistake”. We suspect the same can be said of Dragon Age III, Saxton Hale’s Sexy Shooter and GLaDOS Gloomy Glockenspiel Gore-a-thon. Nothing like a bit of viral marketing to annoy a fanbase who up to this point was very excited about Europe’s premier games exhibition, eh Gamescom?
Original Post: In altogether surprising news, Half-Life 3 has been listed as appearing at Europe’s biggest video games-focused event, Gamescom.
The rumoured appearance is confirmed via a product list on the show’s official website which you can view here.
Are the folks behind the show trying to pull a fast one, or have they really just confirmed that Valve will be in Cologne to announce what has to be the world’s most highly anticipated sequel?
Frankly we don’t know, but with Valve currently promoting not only Counter-Strike: Global Offensive but also DOTA 2 it’s clear that the Seattle outfit has more than enough on their plate at the moment.
Not only that but the team behind Gamescom has already caused a storm by seemingly showing footage of GTA V in a teaser trailer promoting the show, only for Rockstar to confirm that the sequel is in fact not there in any kind of capacity.
At the moment all we have is this list to go by, and judging by past precedent really we should take Half-Life 3‘s inclusion on it with an Olympic-sized pinch of salt.
