ArenaNet and NCsoft confirm that over 1 million copies were “pre-sold”.

If you aren't playing Guild Wars 2, you really are missing out.
If you’re wondering what kind of success Guild Wars 2 has already garnered then you might be interested to know a few tasty informative morsels NCsoft just sent our way.
During the previous Headstart weekend, which preceded the game’s launch yesterday, Guild Wars 2 servers boasted over 400,000 concurrent users – all of which were playing at the same time. That isn’t mentioning how many players took part in the weekend in total, but we suspect that figure to be at least double the concurrent users tally.
That level of success bodes incredibly well for the one-time fee MMORPG, and has understandably led the developer behind the game to be very confident when it comes to future success.
“This is the culmination of a five-year journey and to be greeted by this level of enthusiasm by our fans is truly amazing. But really our work is just beginning. Now our focus is shifting to building on this living world we’ve delivered, continuously refining our game and improving services to ensure our players have the best possible experience,” stated Mike O’Brien, president and co-founder of ArenaNet.
To further punctuate that success, NCsoft has confirmed that over one million copies of the game were pre-sold before the game launched on Tuesday. That number has surely increased with the benefit of day one sales and retail.
Who said the MMO genre is stagnating, eh?
