Double Fine Pitches 23 new games to the web and we get to choose which one enters development!
The next Humble Indie Bundle is a little different from the rest. The new charity drive reveals the challenge and promise of game development, with the help of Double Fine and their charismatic leader Tim Schafer.
Here’s the deal; every year Double Fine hold a game-jam internally dubbed ‘The Amnesia Fortnight’ in order to discover new game ideas, prototype them and eventually make them into full blown interactive offerings. Games like Costume Quest, Stacking, and Trenched were born out of such a process, but this year Double Fine are doing the contest publicly with 23 different projects to vote on and bank roll via Humble Bundle’s innovative pay-what-you-want revenue mechanism.
Anyone who commits to any cash amount will be able to download four of the winning pitches and their prototypes at the end of the two-week long initiative. To further sweeten the deal, Two Player Productions will be filming daily vlogs from Double Fine’s HQ to chronicle the whole process. These mini-documentaries will open up the process of game development to fans – warts and all.
