Another games/technology retailer bites the dust.
Tuesday, 18th December is the last day games, appliance and technology retailer Comet will open its doors.
The retailer’s owner OpCapita has announced that all remaining items in store will be at least 50% off, but that doesn’t include TVs, laptops or any Apple products. The majority of the Comet’s outlets have already closed but a considerable number are having a last hurrah sale today and to see whether your local branch is open check out the definitive list from the retailer here.
While it’s true that Comet stepped further and further away from selling games over the previous few years, it’s still sad to see a name which has been on the British high street since the fifties disappear for good.
It’s currently a very tough time for the British high street with GAME and HMV also having a very turbulent 2012. Here’s hoping 2013 isn’t quite so difficult.
Our hearts and best wishes go out to all those losing their jobs this difficult time of year.
