Will Beneath a Steel Sky return? Only you can decide...

We always knew Revolution Software’s next entry in the Broken Sword series, titled ‘The Serpent’s Curse’, would achieve its funding target on Kickstarter but even we are shocked just how seemingly easy it got there.

“To reach our target in just 13 days is incredible. The generosity of fans and supporters, both in terms of money pledged and the passion they have displayed on the forums, is absolutely overwhelming,” stated Broken Sword’s creator and Revolution Software’s head, Charles Cecil.

“I would like to thank each and every person who has taken the time and trouble to pledge their support – and promise that the game we create will reward their faith.”

Now those funders have a new goal though, as extra milestones need to be passed in order to make the sequel everything it needs to be. If the project reaches $500,000 Revolution will be able to restore the game’s director’s cuttings, if it reaches $650,000 the campaign will see new locations added via North Africa and the Middle East, and $800,000 will allow the developer to realise their “wildest ambitions for the Serpent’s Curse.

All those seem a little wishy-washy to us, the real milestone that caught our eye was the fact that if funding for the Broken Sword: The Serpent’s Curse breaches the million dollar barrier, then Beneath a Steel Sky 2 would get the greenlight. The original is still one of the finest point-and-click adventures made, and it can be downloaded for freevia Good Old Games, so the promise of a sequel is mighty tempting.

Who knows whether Revolution Software will achieve their new goal, all we know is that we’re immensely excited to hear about the next adventure of George Stobbart and co.

If you’ve yet to pledge to this exciting project, or if you’d just like to know more simply head to the sequel’s Kickstarter page.
