Today we've got some awesome selections for your eager eyes to keep you busy over the weekend. Feel free to gorge yourself on the written delights below:

1. Game reviews on the publisher dime:

For our first pick of the week we have a look at how the game review process is being shaped by publishers paranoia regarding their biggest releases. Kotaku's Michael McWherto takes us behind the scenes of a Modern Warfare 2 review event, which housed most of the major US outlets reviewing one of this years biggest titles at a swanky hotel in California. McWherto investigates how these exclusive events are affecting the industry and what other prominent figures in the industry like Jeff Gerstmann and Brian Jarrard think of the increasingly used practice.

Faith was a divisive character when Mirrors Edge was released last year and even though she wasn't our cup of tea, Andrew Vanden Bossche can't seem to get her out of his head. He looks at what the game did exceptionally well and it is an example of how well story aspects can be communicated through gameplay alone. It's an interesting argument and even though we prefer our narratives to be communicated through words, it does translate how unique our entertainment medium really is.

3. Behind the scenes of Sony: 1992 - 2008

Phil Harrison is the definition of a industry legend and our final pick details the most intimate stories of Sony's rise to dominance in the console market, straight from the horses mouth! He talks about his early beginnings at Sony, the much publicised fallout with Nintendo at 1991's CES which brought about the birth of the Playstation and what the future holds for the gaming industry. We rarely get to hear about what it is like in the boardrooms of the big console manufacturers and this article gives you a brief, sweet taste.

As always you can find all of today's featured links on the right and if you have any comments feel free to pop them in the suggestions box below.
