A prospective cast listing on IMDb has included Robin in Batman Arkham Asylum 2, as a result many fans of the original are wondering how the brilliant minds at Rocksteady are going to utilise DC's most hated sidekick. 'The Boy Wonder' isn't entirely without merit though and in our opinion his appearance is not only warranted but a necessity for this high profile sequel.
Take your minds back to the original Arkham Asylum, Batman was looking tired, haggard and most importantly old. Now we aren't saying that Robin should get ready to inherit the Batarang quite yet, but his excellent detective skills and starkly different combat would aid the tortured hero in any number of ways. Best of all his inclusion would one day lead to the Nightwing story arc, which is something every game playing DC fan would love to see.

Nothing forces Bruce Wayne closer to breaking his no kill rule than making his potential successor suffer. All sequels need to raise the tension and by placing Batman's greatest ally in danger, the action will be significantly ramped up.
The inclusion of Robin would also lend itself nicely to an often requested feature, co-op. Rocksteady have already mentioned that the events of the original pre-date the 'Dynamic Duo', so introducing Robin would be the best way of formulating a co-operative campaign. Two capes are always better than one and introducing a second player to the mix would give the brawler a modern Golden Axe feel, something this generation is definitely lacking.
Robin is often referred to as a joke on message boards - thanks largely to Joel Schumacher - but if handled correctly, in line with the comics or Warner Bros animated series, then he would be a great addition to Arkham Asylum 2.
With the game rumoured to be released next year there's still plenty of time for Rocksteady to either reinvent Robin or take him out, but for the sake of the inevitable third game and for Batman fans everywhere we hope he stays in.
