Another week passes and E3 gets ever closer, so we thought we’d do something different for this edition of Something for Sunday. Each of the highlights this week focuses on the link between cinema and video games:
27 Video Games Being Turned Into Films -
Mainstream cinema is always looking for the next big money making franchise and while comic books seem to be Hollywood’s current fertile ground, it appears video games are also being harvested more and more. Den of Geek has catalogued nearly thirty different video game to movie transitions currently in production and the list includes the some no-brainers, such as Shadow of The Colossus and some real head scratchers. Asteriods: The Movie anyone?
CLOCK BLOCKERS: A Mind Bending Gunfight -
This intriguing live-action video mixes Braid with Counterstrike providing some great gunplay action! This five minute clip is really well put together and is not only entertaining but could also prove a very nifty concept for a multiplayer shooter.
Team Fortress 2: The Saxxy’s -
At this point everyone and their mum owns Team Fortress 2 on the PC, so we thought we’d give some extra coverage to the team-based shooter’s first movie awards, ‘The Saxxys’. Everyone who owns Team Fortress 2 can vote in eighteen different categories which showcase videos captured in-game. There is some fantastic viewing to be enjoyed here and we particularly relished the ‘Best Getaway’ category.
As always, if you see anything worthy of this weekly spotlight on your internet travels, please email pcgzine@gamerzines.com.
