Hey there game fans! Usually in Something for Sunday we take the opportunity to single out some fantastic articles we’ve witnessed over the previous week, but today we’re going to mix up the established tradition by only linking fan made videos based on iconic game IPs.
Ready? Here we go!
LittleBigPlanet (one take) -
Apparently this video was completed in only one attempt and once you see it you’ll realise just how much of an achievement that was. Obviously from the title you can gleam that this is a real-life replication of all the crazy shenanigans shown in the LittleBigPlanet. Winner of last year’s Escapist Film Festival, you have to check this out.
Beyond Black Mesa -
Remember that awesome Half-Life 2 inspired fan trailer which showcased the struggle between humanity and the Combine? No? Well, no matter. This short film is the result of the interest surrounding that original concept piece and it shows not only how well a feature film version of Valve’s best IP would work, but also how much can be accomplished on a small budget and a lot of love.
Fallout: Nuka Break –
Another surprisingly good live action short based on a major game franchise. Nuka Break has some well-written dialogue which manages to chuck in a few funnies with all the Fallout trademarks, sound effects and props needed to properly emulate the beloved series. Just don’t ask why the female lead is wearing so little clothes in an oppressive sun-drenched wasteland and you’re sure to have a fun viewing experience.
