Mass Effect 2: A Conversation In Spaces –
It’s videos like these which make us glad the PC platform is still just as prolific as it has always been. Best surmised as a Mass Effect mash-up, this video is what happens when you allow players to mess with gamecode without being accused of doing anything unsavoury. It’s best if you just watch it to be honest, as words alone cannot convey how insane this video really is. We particularly enjoyed witnessing Ambassador Udina being transformed into a two-foot tall chipmunk.
Half-Life 2: Exile Vilify –
And now for something completely different. This music video which combines footage from Half Life 2 and Exile Vilify by The National is something of real beauty. The solemn nature of the soundtrack fits perfectly with the trials of Gordon Freeman and the desolation of City 17. It’s extremely well put together and powerfully poignant. Perhaps the saddest thing of all is that even after such successes, gamers are no closer to knowing whether Episode 3 or Half Life 3 are on the horizon. C’mon Valve do the right thing and finish the fight!
Star Dreams –
Special thanks to Kotaku for bringing attention to this delightful mini-documentary focusing on StarCraft II’s competitive scene, with a group of university graduates hoping to make the transition into the professional arena. Video game documentaries are a lot rarer than perhaps they should be and if you want to understand the phenomenon that is StarCraft II, this video is a good place to start.
