Sometimes trying to find a thread to tie round-up features together is easy, whereas other times it’s near enough impossible. This week’s edition of Something for Sunday is one of those occasions and even though this compilation of videos could definitely be described as eclectic, at least we can promise that everyone should at least find something to entertain them. So without further ado let’s get cracking…
Working Pipboy 3000 -
All of science fiction is bloated with concepts which could never make an appearance in the real-world and we always thought that Fallout’s iconic Pipboy was one such invention. Apparently that isn’t the case as one talented UK gamer has made his own device equipped with a faithful interface and applicable buttons. This device is genuinely impressive and we certainly wouldn’t mind having our own version to play around with.
Borderlands 2: Leaked Gameplay Video –
How about this for a find! Fifteen minutes of unedited Borderlands 2 footage has sneaked its way onto the web and Gearbox’s follow-up to the excellent original seems just as barmy. This video shot at last month’s PAX Prime event features fighting midgets, human meat shields and the same addictive gameplay you’d expect from this loot-driven shooter. It may only be shot using a handheld video camera, but it stills looks stunning!
9 Billion Geometry Wars 2 Score –
Bizarre Creations may no longer exist, but that studio’s legacy is still being enjoyed by gamers the world over and this video proves it. Scoring 9,342,803,875 on Geometry Wars 2 Pacifism’s mode is as daunting as it sounds and we shudder to think how long it has taken ‘TheDannyOutlaw’ to helm the kind of skills which are showcased in this six minute slice of gameplay.
And finally we have another game to real life transition, but this time it involves the 2D side-scrolling classic, Metal Slug. Any fans of SNK’s legendary series definitely needs to check this video out if only to enjoy just how comedic it is to see a real person take down pixelated tanks without even breaking a sweat. Check out Awesome Robo’s other videos while you’re at it too, as they never fail to entertain.
As always if you see anything worthy of a mention in this feature on your internet travels, be sure to send an email to pcgzine@cranberrypublishing.com describing your selection and we’ll give you a shout out to recognise your contribution.
