Perhaps it's partly down to the wealth of amazing games already around and coming soon, but it's probably more to do with original developer Harmonix jumping ship and leaving Neversoft in charge for this one. While the majority of the gaming press gets hot under the collar about the (admittedly hugely exciting) Rock Band, Guitar Hero III is well on its way to becoming one of the winter's hugest hits, having already clocked up well over a million sales Stateside. But does it deserve that success? Have Neversoft kept those lighters aloft, or allowed them to burn out? Thankfully, it's the former. Legends of Rock contains everything that made the first two games great, and a whole lot more besides. And if some of the new additions add little to the formula, there's still enough new stuff to recommend it to anyone in the mood to rock out.
