Following Sega's reputation for creating stunning arcade racers in the eighties like OutRun and Super Hang-On, Sega hit gold in 1993 and released Daytona USA. Mixing the fun handling of previous Sega racers but tacking on a real-world race track, Sega had discovered something very important in the world of gaming. People wanted their racers to look real but when it came to sitting down at an amusement machine and grabbing the wheel, reality could happily take a back seat. The culmination of years of research and Daytona USA feedback was channelled into one game in 1994 and, yes, that game was the brilliant Sega Rally. While there's been various editions of the game on Sega's own Saturn and Dreamcast consoles, this is a new take on the game.
