Warhawk review PS3
Warhawk review for PS3
Warhawk has had such an on-off, on again, off again history. From the developers of God of War, Warhawk was looking to be one of the triple-A PlayStation 3 titles, but rumours of bust-ups in the development team, and the decision that it was impossible to create a decent single-player Warhawk campaign, made us all expect a let down. Ah, what cynics we were. Warhawk is reviewed in this issue, and it is the best multiplayer game you'll have seen for many a moon. If you have a PlayStation 3, and broadband, which is pretty much a given for readers of P3Zine, then Warhawk is a game you will want to own. Find out what makes Warhawk so special on the PS3, by reading our full review in this issue.

Warhawk review for PS3
For a game with such a
troubled genesis, it's utterly
astonishing just how good
Warhawk is. After tales emerged
from developer Incognito Inc
detailing internal bust-ups, and
the complete inability to create a
decent single-player mode, faith in
this supposedly flagship Sony title
was at rock-bottom. But we needn't
have worried - the producers simply
jettisoned the solo-player mode
completely, concentrating their
efforts on the ultimate multiplayeronly
experience and the gamble has
paid off massively. Put simply, if you
have a broadband connection and
a PS3, you'd need to be stark raving
mad not to buy this game.
The key to its brilliance
involves two distinct factors.
First of all there's the way
the developers have cherrypicked
the best elements
from EA's Battlefield franchise
- the open world, the support for
masses of players, the weapons, the
vehicles - then there's the console background of Incognito itself. This
is the company behind Twisted
Metal and God of War. They know
what makes good gameplay. They
know what PlayStation gamers
want, and how to deliver. The result
is an online arcade game second to
none, a complete virtual battlezone
being played out via PS3, a title
offering epic multiplayer action that
effortlessly outquaffs anything else
seen on console.
