SingStar review PS3
SingStar review for PS3
SingStar arrives on the PS3, and as our review shows, it's grown up into a tempting game. Previously you might have been able to dismiss karaoke games as only for the sick of mind, but suddenly SingStar comes along with a line up of songs that us 30-somethings sing (quietly) in the shower. From REM to U2, this is the game for when you arrive back from the pub and don't wilt at the thought of putting yourself on video singing. Yes, SingStar is a tempting sing-a-long game, which is worrying. Read out exactly how you'll be spending Christmas day by reading our review in this issue.

SingStar review for PS3
It's that time of year again. The
days are darker, Christmas is
looming and friends are set to
visit your house with a bottle of
vodka in return for doing karaoke on
your PlayStation. The key difference
this year is that the fun will take place
on PlayStation 3, offering next-gen
karaoke.
The key question is, do we need
a next-gen version of what is,
essentially, a console version of a
pub sport? Well, SingStar on PS2
was miles better than getting one
of those giant speaker-box-recorder
thingies from Argos and, well, those
singalong-to-the-hits DVDs from the
nineties were terrible.
So what does the PS3 bring
to the drunken gaggle of girls
wanting to roadtest a few
belters before doing their live
set at Yates? The intro scene
gives away little. A suspiciously
Hollyoaks cast sing along to
Wolfmother's Woman and there's a
few camera fades which show the
new range of every fashion from
Top Shop. Enter the game and you'll
see video previews instead of the
album covers - there's 36 songs
included but - impressively - you
can download up to 3000 from
the SingStore online catalogue.
