Juiced 2 Hot Import Nights preview for PS3

Drifting a pimped-up Toyota around a winding circuit isn't as easy as it looks. After numerous attempts, with our back end constantly hitting the walls, we lose our car's rear bumper. Then, suddenly, it clicks and we slingshot around one bend, gradually feathering the accelerator as we exit, and twist the other way to take on the upcoming left hand turn. As we pull out of that, our drift combo ends at 20,000, and we've passed the first challenge. It feels good.

Then the controller is passed to lead designer Steve Hunt, who promptly drifts round the entire track in one go, passing a million points. Welcome to Juiced: Hot Import Nights. The game has a tidy, if fairly unremarkable, front end, whereupon you can create a male or female character as your avatar. There's an extremely flexible face editing feature to mess with, and then it's a case of selecting your motor and jumping into your first race. There's a league system whereby you can move up to the next tier by completing a certain number of goals - thankfully you don't have to complete every single race or drift challenge (the two main event types) to qualify, and if you have a preference for one of the two, you can earn the vast majority of goals simply by competing in those events.
