Heavenly Sword review for PS3
Forget Lair - this is the game
to make the most of your
uber-expensive HD setup.
Heavenly Sword cost a packet to
make, and looks like it was worth
every penny - with fully motioncaptured
story sequences showing
astonishing detail, and the in-game
brawling shunting round hundreds
of enemies at once. Central to all
this is heroine Nariko - a beautiful
protagonist who becomes a whirling
dervish in battle, casually tossing
aside opponents in a maelstrom of
kicks, flips and jumps. The fighting
may appear show-offish, but it's
relatively simple to learn, and
more intuitive than many of its
genre forebears. Blocking is often
simply a matter of adopting the
correct combat stance, whereupon
Nariko will automatically parry any
incoming attacks.
