Fallout 3 preview for PS3

Besthesda's announcement of Fallout 3 was one we were all expecting, and it shows how the developer is continuing to grow. This issue we have our first look at Fallout 3, and it's already looking amazing. Coming on the heels of Oblivion, the RPG that has stolen the hearts and many hours of gamers on all platforms, the expectations for Fallout 3 are high, not least because of the game's history. With multiple combat options, and Liam Neeson lending voice support as your father (almost following Patrick Stewart's role in Oblivion), Fallout 3 should satisfy both old hands who loved the PC version and newcomers who've enjoyed Oblivion. Fallout 3 preview for PS3

If you so much as utter the word "Fallout" around a PC gamer, the chances are they'll go misty eyed as they reminisce about the "good old days", and one of the most original, daring, and well made RPGs ever created. To say it's held in high regard would be an understatement, so it's a good job that someone with the pedigree of Oblivion devs, Bethesda, are in charge of this sequel. There'll be hell to pay if they get it wrong...

So, what's the story?
Fallout is set in a post-apocalyptic world of the future, following a global nuclear war in 2077. As the surface, now known as the "wasteland" is spewing with deadly radiation, the majority of civilisation has taken to living in underground bunkers known as Vaults. When you awaken one morning to find your father (voiced by Liam Neeson), has fled the Vaults, choosing to take his chances in the devastation of the wasteland instead, it's up to you to pursue him, and find out the truth behind his mysterious actions...
