Creators Codemasters realise this and have sensed it's time for change and as changes go, Colin McRae DIRT is monumental. Originally featuring just a select group of rally cars on PlayStation 2 with typically gritty and overcast tracks, Colin McRae: DIRT has seen the competition and seriously upped it's game. The first change you'll see is that in terms of a rally game, the rule book has been thrown out of the window and the term ‘rally' has been embraced in all its forms. So instead of merely the trusty Subaru Impreza and a selection of European 4WD vehicles, there's trucks, beach buggies and sportier models to try out. In real terms, the game has become American and embraced the ‘extreme' side of the rallying profession with a little help from US racing figures and licensed events such as the C.O.R.R - Championship Off-Road Racing - championship. It's not selling out, more realising that the likes of Burnout Revenge offer the kind of fast paced fun and destruction that you get while watching rally events on the telly. In terms of speed and fender bending chaos, rallying offers it all and now so does Colin McRae: DIRT. Click here to read the full Colin McRae DIRT review PS3 now! |
