When Good ol'
JR uttered the
phrase "Tables,
ladders and chairs – oh
my!", we can bet he had no
idea that his vision of extreme
would be completely outdated
by 2007. When recording the
commentary for this year's vision
of SmackDown vs Raw, the world's
most successful wrestling franchise
of all time, perhaps we'll be hearing
him yelling "Flaming barbed-wire
baseball bats, dual burning tables
– oh my!" instead, as these are by far
the deadliest weapons you'll come
across in this year's game. It's also
a clear indication of the exciting
direction that the series is taking.
As a new addition for 2008,
THQ were quick to shout from the
rooftops (literally) about the Extreme
rules match type, which is where
both of the deadly weapons we mentioned above can be found. In
this match, as you may have guessed
if you follow WWE (or ECW), there are
basically no rules, and any weapons
are permitted. Before beginning the
match, you can even choose what
weapons you have available to you,
from two-by-fours, to dustbins, steel
chairs, and even – as we mentioned
previously – flaming barbed-wire
baseball bats and stacked burning
tables. To quote ECW commentator
Joey Styles: "Oh. My. God!"
