Lair preview PlayStation 3

Lair preview PlayStation 3

Lair preview for PlayStation 3

Fancy flying a dragon? You can this autumn in Lair, the new fantasy blockbuster coming to the PS3. Developer Factor 5 have left behind the X-wings and deep space of their Star Wars Rogue Squadron series, and replaced them with dragons and a fantasy cityscape. In Lair, you'll steer your dragon through fantasy universe, swooping over battlefields and even taking on other dragons in combat. It sounds fabulous (and it looks fantastic) - will it live up to its promise? We've had a hands-on look at Lair this month - find out what to expect in our three page preview now! Click here to read our Lair preview for PlayStation 3! Lair preview for PlayStation 3 For almost a decade, Factor 5 have been best known for their Star Wars Rogue Squadron series. So when the team announced they had a game in development for the PS3, many presumed that the Star Wars franchise had merely jumped ship, and that it would be us PS3 owners who were going to be treated to the first next-gen incarnation of the space sim series. Imagine our surprise, when instead of an X-Wing, we see a huge dragon swooping across the screen. Where there once was space, there's now a beautifully visualised city, with cathedrals, bridges, waterfalls, and hundreds of townspeople. This is Lair, and from what we've seen so far, it's looking better than Rogue Squadron could ever have dreamed of. We could have easily spent the entire preview telling you just how astounding Lair looks, but even if we were to spend the entire magazine waxing lyrical about it, we still wouldn't come close to capturing its visual magnificence. In many levels, there are tens of thousands of enemies doing battle below you, and at any point, you can swoop down and send dozens of soldiers flying with each sweep of your claws, or scorching hundreds with each breath of fire.
