Super Stardust HD is a dualanalogue shooter, loosely based on the Amiga game, Stardust, that was released some fourteen years ago. Piloting your little spaceship above a planet that’s under attack from giant meteors, it’s your job to simply destroy everything in sight, whilst avoiding the giant pieces of rock yourself. Imagine Asteroids, in HD, with a pumping soundtrack, and you’ll be halfway there. Graphically, the game is stunning, and chipping away at the enormous asteroids with your pitiful little lasers is a sight to PlayStation Network PSN gets its first killer app, and PS1 games hit the store behold, as the behemoth begins to crumple and your lasers penetrate its core. There are five planets to play through, each with five stages, the last of which is a boss fight, which gives the game some incredible replay value. However, by far the best thing about Super Stardust HD is just how addictive it is. We’ve been playing it almost non-stop, and it’s taken us four days to tear ourselves away from it just to write this review. Beautiful, addictive, and with a soundtrack that will stick in your head for years. Buy it. Now.
