Ninja Gaiden Sigma Review for PlayStation 3
This is a remake of an old
Xbox game, a beat-’em-up
adventure that was so teethgnashingly,
heart-breakingly tough it
could make John Rambo weep like a
starving baby. Hmm, you’re probably
thinking, that’s nothing to get
excited about on PS3. But you’d be
oh so wrong. It may be largely based
on a last-gen game and harder than
Posh Spice’s biceps, but Ninja Gaiden
Sigma is one of PS3’s finest, and to
play it is to love it like a masochist
loves stilettos.
The plot, for what it’s worth,
revolves around the Dark Dragon
Blade. When this legendary weapon
is stolen by the evil Vigoor empire it’s
up to Ryu Hayabusa, a ninja from an
ancient line of warriors, to retrieve
it. Sounds a bit meh doesn’t it? But
where many games live and die by
their storyline, here it doesn’t matter
one teensy little bit – all that counts
is you get to be a ninja and you get
to kick, punch, slash and bash the
hell out of an endless supply of bad
guys ripe for the punishing.
Before you bring the pain,
however, you’ll have to become
familiar with the more defensive
side of vengeance-seeking ninjary.
