Haze developer interview PlayStation 3

Haze developer interview PlayStation 3

Haze developer interview - PlayStation 3

In this issue of P3Zine, we talk to the team from Free Radical, who brought us TimeSplitters, about their new outing due later this year: Haze. Haze is set in the near future, a future where international law and national armies have been outsourced to multi-national corporations - you'll play a soldier and follow him seamlessly through three days of warfare in a South American warzone. The team talks about developing for the PS3, the online features of the game, and discuss their views on the presentation of war in videogames. Take a look for yourself, too - we've got the full video trailer of Haze. Check out our Haze developer interview for PlayStation 3now to find out more. The new game from the team behind TimeSplitters, Haze is already looking absolutely gorgeous. Set for release later this year (currently 23rd November), we caught up with the guys from Free Radical to find out their thoughts on everything, from the challenges of developing for PS3, to the newly announced co-op mode.
Free Radical games have always had a strong plotline. Tell us a bit about the story behind Haze.
[RY] In 2048 there is no more NATO, no more UN. In a bid to reduce their national debts, most Western governments outsource their military requirements to Mantel Global Industries – a huge multinational corporation with their own private army for hire. As a company, Mantel has concerns in everything from plastics to petrol, engines to computers. However, in this story, we focus on two of their primary businesses: their armed forces, and their biomedical support systems. Guerrilla soldiers in a region of South America have overthrown the government. Mantel is called in to deal with the problem – to restore democracy to this war-torn land. You play as Sergeant Shane Carpenter – a good man, with good intentions. HAZE is set over a three-day period during the war. These few days will change the life of Shane Carpenter forever.
