Grand Theft Auto IV preview - PS3
It’s just after 11pm on Thursday,
March 29th, and tens – nay,
hundreds - of thousands of
people worldwide are hunched over
their computers, frantically pressing
Grand Theft Auto IV
The world’s biggest franchise returns to its spiritual home…
F5 to refresh the screen. The event?
Why, the simple unveiling of the
teaser trailer for Grand Theft Auto
IV. Sixty-three seconds of precision built,
ruthlessly edited, beautifully
constructed, pure and simple hype.
Rockstar Games has us all in its thrall
once more, and the videogame
world suddenly goes into ‘frenzied
speculation’ mode. But, now the dust has finally settled, what has the
GTA IV trailer actually told us?
In truth, not a lot. But then there
are tantalizing hints everywhere
to what the beast that is one of
videogaming’s biggest series has
now become. For starters, we know
where it’s set. Flashes of the Statue
of Liberty, the Empire State, Times
Square, the Chrysler building, the
Brooklyn Bridge – yep, we’re in New
York. Certain internet-goers would
swear blind that it’s not, that it’s a
return to GTA3’s Liberty City, and – in
a sense – they’d be right.
